Ben Hartley is Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London and is also Honorary senior lecturer at The Institute of Child Health, University of London.

He is Vice President of the Section of Laryngology and Rhinology of The Royal Society of Medicine 2006-9, a fellow of the Royal College of Suregons of England and of Ireland, A member of ENT UK, the British Assocation of Paediatric otolaryngology and The British Cochlear Implant Group. He is also an Honorary life member of The South African Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck surgery.

He is director of the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course and runs the Paediatric Otolaryngology section of the Advanced Course for the Intercollegiate FRCS Examination at The Institute of Laryngology and Otology, University of London. He lectures for the University of London in a number of areas including the MSc courses in Audiological Medicine and the MSc Course in Voice Pathology. Internationally he lectures widely in USA, Europe and recently Africa and Hong Kong.

He reviews scientific papers for the Lancet, Clinical Otolaryngology and The Journal of Laryngology and Otology. He is a clinical editor for The CME Journal Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck surgery

He is a member of the Specialist Training Committee for South Thames Deanery in London and Supervises 4 trainee otolaryngologists as well 2 fellows. He is Unit Training Director for Head and Neck at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
