Ben Hartley is Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist at Great Ormond Strret Hospital for Children, London and is also Honorary senior lecturer at The Institute of Child Health, University of London. The Institute of Child Health was recently awarded the highest star rating available to a research institution in the UK.
He is director of the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course and runs the Paediatric Otolaryngology section of the Advanced Course for the Intercollegiate FRCS Examination at The Institute of Laryngology and Otology, University of London. He lectures widely including the MSc courses in Audiological Medicine and the MSc Course in Voice Pathology at The University of London, as well as the phonosurgery, ENT emergencies and other courses at The Institute of Laryngology and Otology.
Internationally he runs an Instructional Course on Paediatric Voice disorders at The American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery conference jointly with Christopher Hartnick MD from Harvard Medical School. Each year he gives multiple lectures and presentations in Europe and the USA.
He is a member of the Scientific Committee for the British Academic Congress in Otolaryngology (BACO) and Honorary Secretary for the Section of Laryngology and Rhinology of The Royal Society of Medicine.
He reviews scientific papers for the Journal of Laryngology and Otology and is a Clinical editor for The CME Journal Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck surgery
He is a member of the Specialist Training Committee for North Thames Deanery in London and Supervises 3 trainee otolaryngologist as well as being a member of the annual assessment (RITA) and selection committees. He is Unit Training Director for Head and Neck at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
